Introduction : 

The story of  Taj Mahal 



There are many historical places worth seeing in India such as Delhi's Red Fort, Qutub Minar, Purana Qila, Humayun's Tomb, one of these is the *taj Mahal* of Agra, which was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his Begum Mumtaz on the banks of river Yamuna in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Taj Mahal is a historical place.This tomb is a symbol of the unbreakable love between husband and wife. Begum Mumtaz passed away while giving birth to her child during delivery. The king loved his wife to the extent of passion, so after the death of his Begum, the king became very sad. The king was immersed in grief for about 2 years. After that, the king thought of building a beautiful tomb in memory of his wife and started the construction of Taj Mahal in 1632 and this construction work was completed in 1653. Let us tell you that it took about 21 years to complete, and the cost of building it was about 3 crore 32 lakh rupees.  The Taj Mahal is the result of the hard work of 20,000 artisans. For this, white marble was brought from the mines of Makrana and red sandstone from Fatehpur Sikri. 28 types of precious stones embedded in it were imported from abroad. The Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world. It is made of white marble.


Ustad Ahmad Lahori was the architect of the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal, situated in the middle of a 17 hectare area complex, is a unique example of Mughal architecture, compared to which hardly any mausoleum can be compared.

Mumtaz Mahal was a pearl necklace seller, whose old name was Arjumand Bano Begum. Her father was the minister of Jahangir. Later she was married to Shah Jahan and Shah Jahan named her Begum Mumtaz Mahal.


Structure of Taj Mahal:

While other Mughal buildings and tombs are made of red sandstone, the Taj Mahal is made of white marble. The walls of the Taj Mahal have beautiful carvings and are decorated with precious stones. The Taj Mahal is a masterpiece of Indian and Islamic architecture.

A wonderful monument of love, the Taj Mahal is an important example of Mughal architecture that blends Persian, Islamic and Indian styles. The intricate and precise engineering designed by architect Ahmed Lahori amazes tourists with the main components of the Taj Mahal structure. The iconic main dome of the Taj Mahal is 80 feet high and is surrounded by four smaller domes. Four minarets, 130 feet high, at each corner surround the complex. The rectangular main building is made of white marble. Its arches are made with intricate designs. A 1400 feet long plunge pool has been built to enhance the beauty of the monument. Four gardens have also been built around the Taj Mahal. Floral patterns have been made on its walls and floors with intricate inlay of marble and holy verses of the Quran have been engraved. Its pointed arches and ornate calligraphy add to the beauty of its structure. The bulbous base and narrow top of the main dome of the Taj Mahal create an optical illusion. Its perfect symmetry shows natural harmony. The foundation of the Taj Mahal is 30 feet deep in the ground and it is made of limestone and marble. To give stability to this amazing structure, its weight has been distributed evenly. Water management has been done through a complex system in such a way that soil erosion can be prevented. The breathtaking structure of the Taj Mahal, a mixture of amazing engineering and beauty, is extremely amazing. It is the seventh wonder of the world.

Tourists mostly come to see the Taj Mahal in February, March and October-November. Every year 20 to 30 lakh tourists visit the Taj Mahal, out of which at least 2 lakh tourists are foreigners.


You can visit the Taj Mahal six days a week as it remains closed on Fridays.



 There are ticket windows at the eastern and western entrance of the Taj Mahal and a cloakroom is available in the shopping complex for depositing the luggage of the visitors. 

The opening time of the ticket window has been fixed 15 minutes before sunrise and the closing time of the ticket window has been fixed 45 minutes before sunset
You can also buy tickets online to visit Taj Mahal. For this, you can visit the website  www.tajmahal.gov.in


Visitors can visit the main mausoleum only after purchasing an additional ticket of Rs. 100. The entry fee for Indian visitors is Rs. 50 and foreigners have to pay Rs. 1100. Apart from this, one has to buy a ticket of Rs. 200 to see the main dome. Entry is free for children up to 15 years of age.

How to reach to see the Taj Mahal?


Vehicles that smoke and spread pollution are prohibited near the Taj Mahal. For the convenience of tourists, an electric bus service has also been started here, but if you want, you can also reach the main mausoleum by walking on the Parikrama.

You can go to see the Taj Mahal by road, by train 🚆 and also by air.


By train 


Every major cities are connected to Agra Cantt railway station. You can go to see the Taj Mahal by train. Trains like Rajdhani Express, Taj Express, Shatabdi and Palace on Wheels etc. run to go from Delhi to Agra

By air 

Agra Airport is located about seven kilo meters away from the center of Agra city. Every day Indian Airlines flights operate to Agra. After this you can reach the Taj Mahal by local bus, taxi or auto.

By road 

You can also reach Agra from Delhi by taxi and for this you also get special discounts and apart from this bus services are also available from many important cities like Fatehpur Sikri, Delhi, Jaipur and Mathura, so you can also go to Agra by bus.
