Introduction : 

It is nestled in the snow-clad mountains and dense forests of the Himalayas. Here one can see beautiful picturesque natural views. The snow-clad high mountains, lush green valleys, waterfalls and gurgling rivers give the feeling of heaven on the earth. There are many Hindu temples in Uttarakhand which are also centres of faith for the tourists. The beautiful views of this place automatically attract the tourists. These sanctuaries provide a special thrilling experience to the nature lovers.  Tourists from all over the country and abroad come to Uttarakhand with great enthusiasm to see the natural beauty and wildlife here. It is probably named Uttarakhand because it is located in the northern part of India. Many national parks have been built in Uttarakhand to protect wildlife. Wildlife sanctuaries are a symbol of national pride along with providing protection to the species of wildlife on the verge of extinction. Jim Corbett National Park built in Uttarakhand is India's oldest wildlife sanctuary.  Various types of rare plants and wild animals are found in Uttarakhand wildlife sanctuaries. Raja ji national park 

Rajaji National Park is spread over 320 square kilometers in the foothills of the
 Himalayasin three districts of Uttarakhand (Dehradun , Pauri Garhwal and Haridwar) on the Shivalik mountain. This national park was named after C Rajagopalachari (Rajaji), a prominent leader of the freedom struggle and the first and last Governor General of independent India (awarded Bharat Ratna). Rajaji National Park was established in 1983 and has been given the status of a tiger reserve with the sole purpose of protecting tigers and increasing their numbers. Rajaji National Park is world famous for its large number of elephants and tigers

Govind Wildlife sanctuary 

Govind wildlife sanctuary is located in Bilaspur, Mandi, and Naina Devi 
near Uttarkashi townGovind wildlife sanctuary is famous for its amazing bird species, oak species, flora, tropical euphorbia scrub, chirpine, fauna and tracking.   Govind wildlife sanctuary is spreading over 958 kilometer² ( 370 square miles) in Garhwal Himalayas. The Government of India has inaugurated the snow leopard project to protect the snow leopard spices. There are 50 spices of birds and 15 spices of large mammal in Govind wildlife sanctuary. Among which is the snow leopard and the bearded vulture, are prominent.

Nanda Devi National park 

Nanda Devi National Park is a popular wildlife sanctuary spread over 380 square kilometer. This sanctuary is located on the main peak of the Himalayas in the central part of Uttarakhand. Rishi Ganga valley and its surrounding areas are also around it. It is a large national park spread over 630 square kilometers. Nanda Devi National Park is a part of this. Nanda Devi National Park is an incomparable sanctuary. It is not logical to compare Nanda Devi National Park with any other park in the Himalayas. High peaks of the Himalayas, dense forests and large glaciers can be seen, which is the habitat of large endangered wildlife mammals. Here you will get to see mountain blue goats, snow leopards, black and brown bears, red foxes, musk deer, langur, bharal (blue sheep), goral etc. Rare plants, Brahma Kamal, and many other types of plants are found in this forest.

In 1982, keeping in mind the safety of wildlife and flora, entry of trekkers was banned in this forest. Recently, Nanda Devi National Park has been partially opened again. Tourists are being allowed to enter this sanctuary only within the prescribed limit.The Nanda Devi Basin was declared a sanctuary in 1939 and is now a major part of the Nanda Devi Biosphere and was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.

Jim Corbett National park 

Jim Corbett National Park is the first and oldest national park established in 1936 which is located in the the Nainital district. Uttarakhand. It is also known as Hailey National Park. Various rare species of wildlife are seen in Jim Corbett National Park, some of these species are on the verge of extinction. Better efforts are made in Jim Corbett National Park to preserve the future generation of these endangered species and save them from extinction. In these efforts, preventing hunting of wildlife by the government is an important step.

Askot Wildlife Sanctuary is located 53 km from Pithoragarh district in Uttarakhand. It is spread over an area of ​​600 square kilometers at an altitude of about 6,905 meters above sea level. Askot Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1986. In the east, the Kali River separates it from  Nepal 
and forms an international border. Askot Wildlife Sanctuary is bordered by Almora in the west, Tibet in the north and Pithoragarh in the south. Kedarnath National park 

Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary is a conservation site for Himalayan musk deer. The main purpose of its establishment is to protect musk deer. This sanctuary is also known as Musk Deer Sanctuary. Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Chamoli Garhwal and Rudra Prayag districts of Uttarakhand. The height of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary is about 1160 meters above sea level and it is spread over an area of ​​975 km². The average temperature here in summer is 25⁰ Celsius and the winter temperature is recorded up to _10⁰ Celsius. This sanctuary is mainly famous for musk deer, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan griffon, snow leopard, and Himalayan Thar and its diverse flora. From 1916 to 1920, it used to be a notified reserved forest. In January 1921, it was declared a sanctuary.

 The Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary is named after an ancient Hindu Shiva temple, Kedarnath Dham. The entire 14 km route from Gaurikund to Kedarnath passes through this sanctuary.

Binsar Wildlife sanctuary 

Binsar wildlife sanctuary is established in year 1988 at the average height of 2412 meter above the sea level. It is spread over 45.59 square kilometres aria. Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Almora district of Uttarakhand. Binsar is about 34 km from Almora. In the 18th century, Binsar used to be the summer capital of the Chandra dynasty kings and later this place was declared a wildlife sanctuary.

This wildlife sanctuary is also known as vinog mountain Quail wildlife sanctuary, it is spread over 339 hectares near Mussoorie. Vinog mountain Quail wildlife sanctuary is the heaven for the 🐦 lovers.  Vinog Mountain Quail Wildlife Sanctuary is a very beautiful and charming sanctuary located in the deodar trees and snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

Barrage is a man-made reservoir which is located 40 kms from Dehradun on Dehradun Valley Paonta Road. This reservoir is spread over an area of ​​about 4 square kms. The 287.5 kms long reservoir is located near the confluence of Yamuna and Aasan. The river bed is at a height of 389.4 mts from the sea level. It is an unforgettable experience to see thousands of birds flocking here. Migratory birds can be seen coming to Aasan Barrage in February-March and depart towards South India in October-November. Sonanadi  wildlife sanctuary is spread over the area of 312.18 square kilometres in the biological zone of the foot hills of Shiwalik Mountains. It is named so because it is located on the bank of the Sona Nadi.
